Australia and Indonesia have agreed to hold an inaugural Youth test match from 10 – 12 December 2017 in Jakarta, Indonesia. The event is supported by the Australian Embassy in Indonesia and the Indonesian Bridge Federation.

Eligibility: Open to all Male and Female Under 25 players who are born on or after 1 January 1993 and before 1 January 2000.

The following selection procedure will be used:

A call for nominations will be made on the ABF website and by email to all eligible players from the most recent Youth Selection Butler. Priority will be given to established youth partnerships and Australian representatives in the given year. Consideration will also be given to:

• Any PQPs accrued by nominated pairs;
• The results from Youth week;
• Performance at National events; and
• Performance at the recent APBF Championships.

Selection will be recommended to the ABF Management Committee by a panel headed by the Chairman of the Tournament Committee and comprising the National Youth Co-ordinator, the Chairman of the International Player Committee, and the current Australian Youth Non-Playing Captain(s).

This event is seen as an important part of the overall preparation for the World Youth Bridge Team Championships in China in 2018 and nominating pairs who are selected for this event will be expected to trial in those partnerships in 2018 unless exceptional circumstances arise.

Funding: Airfares, accommodation and a daily allowance will be provided.
