What should you bid next?
Would it make any difference if it were a teams event?
Playing matchpoints in the local club Seniors Day.
Our 1NT opener is 15-18; also playing better minor.
The 1♠ response shows 5+ Spades.
Thanks,

Hi Brian,
It appears that you have two options; either 1NT or 2♦. Each has its own flaws (1NT with a singleton, 2♦ with only five diamonds), and I guess it is usually up to your partnership agreement on how often (if at all) you can rebid 1NT with a singleton. My preferred style is that I prefer not to have a singleton, but if I do have one, it will be a singleton honour, so on this hand, I would rebid 1NT.
Given that it’s matchpoints, that would be an even more reason to bid 1NT as it is usually a better score than playing in 2-of-a-minor.
Kind regards,
Andy
