Tasmanian Festival of Bridge – cancelled for 2020
Well sadly you won’t be coming to enjoy the apples at this year’s TFoB ☹
The ABF and TBA has recommended cancelling the event with the risk of the current virus escalating and we are in full agreement.
Please make sure all the people you know that were coming are aware of this development as we may not have contact details for everyone who has entered. Please announce in your clubs.
You will receive a full refund for your entries. If you paid by credit card it will be refunded back to your card automatically which can take up to a week to hit your statement.
If you paid by bank deposit then please write an email stating the entries you have and your bank account details for the TBA treasurer to return your funds.
Please be patient as there is a lot of work to complete and please try to resolve issues via email in the first instance asp@abf.com.au
As for accommodation we have found this document from the ACCC (page 10 – cancellation fees) which says that hotels can only charge 10% deposit and can only keep that amount. If they have charged more than 10% it is seen as a pre-payment and is fully refundable.
We hope you are able to recover your accommodation and maybe even your flights as the airlines are reducing capacity and may be cancelling flights.
We are very sorry to not be holding this event and hope you are able to come down to the Apple Isle another time.
