Margaret Choate passed away on June 9th. Margaret had the distinction of being one of the first women members of a winning interstate team when representing South Australia in 1956. She represented Australia in 1975-6 at the Far East and Olympiad championships with Cecile Miles before retiring to the more sedate level of club bridge.
During a period spanning nearly six decades as a member of the South Australian Bridge Association, Margaret Choate accumulated more than 40 major titles including 5 Teams Championships, 2 Open Pairs Championships and 4 Mixed Pairs Championships. She continued to play bridge successfully until just a few weeks before her death.
