ABF Update on Corona Virus Health and Safety

The ABF values the health and wellbeing of all players and officials.

You are the best judge of what’s best for you, and we encourage you to make an informed decision whether to play bridge at the club or attend a tournament. We trust that you will exercise your own judgment regarding participation. If you’re sick or not feeling well, please stay home.

We suggest that members and clubs follow the advice on the Australian Government Department Health and the World Health Organisation guidance.

Guidance for Attending a Club or Tournament

  • Washing your hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub;
  • Practising respiratory hygiene, covering mouth and nose when sneezing and discarding tissues immediately into bin, cleaning your hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water;
  • Trying to avoid touching your face at all;
  • Maintaining social distancing, elbow bump rather than a hug or shaking hands.
  • If you see anyone doing anything likely to pass germs from mouth to cards, it’s best to gently remind them that it’s not the best practice. If you feel uncomfortable doing this then inform the Director or Tournament Organiser.

At the APBF in Perth

  • Hand sanitation sites will be available in public areas, providing alcohol-based hand sanitiser for all attendees and staff.
  • Disposable, disinfectant wipes will be available so commonly used surfaces can be routinely wiped.
  • Signage will be predominately placed to remind attendees of safe practices.

The Perth Convention Center has put out the following statement and has put in place enhanced cleaning protocols.
