A Game at the Club – Barbara Travis
Barbara Travis first represented Australia at international bridge in 1981. This is her offering to bored bridge players who enjoy reading her material.
A message from Barbara:
I won my first national title in 1979 – Gold Coast Pairs. My husband Howard and I then won the Gold Coast Pairs in 2013 – a 34 year break between victories! One of my proudest achievements was qualifying for the Australian Open Team in 1998, with Elizabeth Havas (my cousin). We are the only women’s pair to have represented Australia at Open bridge.
I have always enjoyed writing about bridge, contributing to the ABF Newsletter, and have provided a regular column called “A Game at the Club” for the past couple of years. Earlier this year, I produced Volume 1 of A Game at the Club. Volume 2 is a shorter book, consisting of 10 as-yet unpublished games.
I was also one of the seven columnists for the ABF’s Daily Bridge Column, and I have found that I really enjoy bringing my ‘chatty, educational’ style to more keen bridge players. I hope you enjoy my offerings.
