Seniors

Ages to enter Australian Senior events are based on World Bridge Federation age requirements.

In 2017 the WBF Executive Council decided to raise the age requirement for Senior players to 65 over an 8 year period. Commencing in 2018, the WBF increased the minimum age for WBF Seniors’ events  from turning 60 in the year of the event to 61. Subsequently, the age has increased by one year every second calendar year. From 2026 and thereafter players must turn at least 65 in the year in which they are competing.

The age requirements to enter ABF Senior events will be:

  • For 2022-2023 the minimum age requirement will be 63. Players must therefore attain the age of 63 during the calendar year of the ABF event they wish to enter
  • For 2024-2025 the minimum age requirement will be 64. Players must therefore attain the age of 64 during the calendar year of the ABF event they wish to enter.
  • For 2026 and thereafter the minimum age requirement will be 65. Players must therefore attain the age of 65 during the calendar year of the ABF event they wish to enter.
