The 2023 Summer Festival of Bridge (SFOB) will commence on Tuesday January 10 with the Women’s and Seniors Teams and finish Sunday January 22 with the Final of the National Open Teams.

The venue for the event is the Canberra Rex Hotel.

The major changes from the last face to face SFOB include:

Women’s and Seniors Team

• The Women’s and Seniors Team events commence on Tuesday January 10. The top team at the end of the 3-day qualifying will be awarded the National championship.
• The top four teams, eligible to represent Australia, will qualify for the Australian Women’s and Senior Teams Playoffs.
• The Women’s and Senior Australian Team Playoffs will consist of two 96 board knockout matches. These will be played on Friday-Sunday January 13-15.

Mixed Pairs with PQPs

• A mixed pairs event will be held on the weekend of January 14-15. The format will be the same as the TBIB Open Swiss pairs.

Other Changes include the Chris Diment pairs (2 Day event) commencing on Wednesday January 11 and a one-day Swiss pairs on Friday January 13.

The TBIB Swiss pairs and SWPT are unchanged. The TBIB Swiss pairs will be held on the Weekend of January 14-15 and the SWPT will be held from Monday-Thursday January 16-19 with the top eight teams qualifying for the National Open Teams (NOT).

Entries to the SFOB – Open July 23, 2022

The venue is limited to maximum of 120 tables per day. Several events occur simultaneously. Entries will open on MyABF on July 23. Entry number will be set for each event.

The entry limits will be reviewed in December and may change.

Entries accepted on MyABF that are pending are not considered complete until fully paid. If required, a reserve list of entries will be maintained.

Accommodation at The Venue (Canberra Rex Hotel)

Accommodation at the Rex is available. Twin share with breakfast in a King Room starts at $185 per night. If breakfast is not required, please inform the Rex at the time of booking and they will provide a revised price.
